Onuachu is expected to be in the news again when the transfer window reopens this winter.
The Nigeria international has been in the headlines over the years due to his goalscoring exploits for KRC Genk in the Belgian Pro League.
Onuachuk scored 33 goals in 38 league appearances for the Smurfs two seasons ago.
The forward was also the club’s top scorer last season, netting 21 goals in 35 league outings.
This season, he has already scored 13 goals in 14 league games.
The Midlands club are looking to add more firepower to their attack, although new manager Unai Emery has Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings at his disposal.
Villa are also following Onuachu’s international teammate Samuel Chukwueze.
Emery and Chukwueze worked together at Villarreal before the Spaniard returned to England a few weeks ago.
Emery is keen to reunite with the Nigeria international, who has also been courted by Chelsea and Liverpool in the past.
