Donald Trump pulled into a third race for the White House on Tuesday night, setting the stage for a tough battle for the Republican nomination after poor midterm election showings for hand-picked candidates weakened the party’s grip.
Trump officially launched his campaign for president in 2024, filing documents with the Federal Election Commission, where he named himself a presidential candidate and created a new campaign committee.
Trump will give a speech this evening at his private club in Florida, Mar-a-Lago.
“America’s comeback begins right now,” the 76-year-old former US president told hundreds of supporters gathered at his luxurious Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.
“The vote will be very different. Are you getting ready?” Trump said.
“This will not be my campaign. This will be our campaign together”, he said to the cheering crowd.
