Dogo Gide, the notorious bandit king, released the last two of the 11 students of Federal Government College Yauri on Wednesday night, City-You are, Kebbi State, Those who were kidnapped in 2021.
The two girls who were released are Farida Kaoje and Safiya Idris.
Confirming the release of the students to PREMIUM TIMES, Sani Kaoje, Farida’s father said the two students were released after paying a ransom of N45 million to the outlaw.
“We sold most of our properties to pay N80 million naira that Dogo asked us to pay, but he refused to release all the students. Some of the naira notes he gave were damaged, so he returned them and we took them to the government. He also asked us for forty million naira, but since we don’t have the money, we went to the government and asked other well-meaning people to help us get the money,” said Mr Kaoje, a retired civil servant.

Mr Kaoje said the money was taken to Mr Gide on Wednesday by a negotiator, Abubakar and the two parents of the hostages.
He said the released students were on their way to Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, after which they will be taken to a hospital for medical check-ups.

The back story
Mr. Gide and his gang kidnapped more than 100 students and some of their teachers in 2021.
While many of the girls escaped in the days after the abduction, others were released after allegedly paying ransoms to Mr. Gide’s gang and were arrested by the authorities in exchange for some of Mr. Gide’s fighters.

However, the terrorists held on to 11 of the girls.
Mr. Gide released the four abductees in April after the parents paid N80 million. He also dismissed three and two more students in May.
