No fewer than 116 suspects were arrested on Monday when soldiers of the 9th Brigade of the Nigerian Army raided criminal hideouts in the under-bridge area of Oshodi, among other areas in Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro During the raid, the soldiers searched the passengers’ bags and pockets.
A Twitter user, @Ogo Mushin, a state of emergency seemed to have been imposed.
Another user, @Olu_Bebeji, he said as the people doing the routes raised their hands.
The Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 9 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Major AK Bello, said: “There is this exercise ‘Still Water’ that we are doing now. The exercise is to reduce crime in Lagos State. In this operation, we decided to go to Oshodi area and 116 people We arrested them and took them to our barracks where we did further investigation.
“Those we caught with hard drugs and weapons, we handed them over to the police. We released about 80 people after verifying and knowing that they were innocent, but we caught some of them taking Indian hemp, and others with weapons.’
