Sharon Tal Yguado, former CEO of Amazon Studios and Fox Network Group, has launched Astrid Entertainment, a game company focused on developing living fantasy worlds that inspire positive, community-based games that can be transitioned into multiple media, including film and television.
The company, which is currently developing its first multiplayer game, recently secured a major seven-figure pre-seed investment from a group of investors including NetEase Games, Stardom and Tower 26. Astrid’s leadership team will be announced in the coming months.
“I love developing rich worlds and seeing millions of people participate and build communities around them,” said Tal Yguado. “We are seeing a new generation that wants something different. They like to walk in suggestive worlds that give them freedom, allow them to be with friends, explore, discover and create their own stories.’
Tal Yguado was most recently head of Genre Drama at Amazon Studios, leaving the position in 2019. During his tenure, he was the general manager. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Powerand he also supervised guys, The Wheel of Time and Tales From the Loop. He also led general conventions The Walking DeadRobert Kirkman and stranger things’ Justin Double
During his previous 13 years at Fox, he oversaw the company’s global content strategy and oversaw projects for Fox International Channels as AMC. The Walking DeadFX’s Marvel drama the legion and Cinemax’s rejected.
