  • Input your registration number in the next box and then your email
  • Choose your intended destination
  • Afterwards, click on proceed and you will taken to the next stage which will show your name and Gender online.
  • Click on next and you will see your full name, verification number, the fees which is N18725 and then the payment method. Select the payment method and continue
  • The next page will be a page to enter your payment information. Total amount to pay is N19099.50. Enter your card details and make the payment.
  • Immediately after the payment you will receive an email from NMCN in your inbox, click on the email link and you will be taken to the NMCN verification page where you will need to upload your license and other documents. Then complete the form with the following:

Requirements for verification of certificates of registration

Application letter stating purpose and destination of verification request.

  1. Completed verification form.
  2. Photocopy of current licence.
  3. Photocopies of certificates of registration.
  4. Photocopy of birth certificate or declaration of age.
  5. Receipt of payment of N53,500 to Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria through REMITA.

Requirements for authentication of certificates

  1. Two (2) copies each of requirements for verification as stated above.
  2. Receipt of payment of N8,750 to Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria through REMITA(TSA).

NOTE: The amount covers any number of certificate(s).

Requirements for issuance of letter of good standing

  1. Original evidence of payment of N8,750 to Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria through REMITA (TSA).
  2. The above requirements for verification.

Requirements for verification of certificates of registration and issuance of letter of good standing to NMC-UK

  1. Application stating purpose and destination of verification.
  2. Completed verification form.
  3. Photocopy of current licence.
  4. Photocopies of certificates of registration.
  5. Photocopy of birth certificate or declaration of age.
  6. Receipt of payment of N17,500 to Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria through REMITA.

Requirement for registration of foreign trained nurses who registered in their country of training

It is mandatory that graduates of foreign nursing schools register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and obtain licence to practice prior to their professional practice in Nigeria. This process may take minimum of six (6) months and maximum of eighteen (18) months. The registration and licencing process can be facilitated by taking the following steps:

  1. Complete online application as a Foreign Trained Nurse on Council portal via this link https://portal.nmcn.gov.ng/FtnApplication/apply
  2. Pay a non–refundable application/examination fee of N45, 500 into the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria through payment platform on the portal upon clearance from Council on the acceptance of your foreign certificate.
  3. Complete a paper verification of registration/licensure form and send to Foreign Nursing Registration Board/Authority who will in turn send it directly to the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria. Please collect the form from the Registration Division of the Council. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that verification forms are completed and returned in good time to the Council.
  4. Also request your Foreign Nursing Registration Board/Authority to send a letter of good standing directly to the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
  5. Request foreign institution(s) to send official Academic Transcripts of all nursing courses directly to the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria. It is the applicant responsibility to arrange and pay all necessary transcript fees as may be required by the Foreign University/College.
  6. Request the Federal Ministry of Education in Nigeria to authenticate the Institution(s) which you attended and certificate(s).
  7. Sit for a screening interview at a venue announced by the Council. Date and time of the screening will be communicated to applicant in due course. Only successful applicants will proceed to the next steps.
  8. Undergo a minimum of six (6) months orientation programme in an approved Institution.
  9. Sit for Professional Qualifying examination at the approved centre.
  10. Upon successful in the professional qualifying examination, initial online application and Payment for registration/ licencing
  11. Registration and issuance of notification of registration/licence.

NOTE: Every applicant must possess a minimum of five (5) credits in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics in not more than two (2) sittings in WACE/SSCE, GCE, NECO or NABTEB. The Nursing programme must not be an online programme.

Re-issuance of lost notification of registration

  1. Application letter for re-issuance.
  2. Letter of Identification from Training School in the School’s Letter Headed Paper, stamped and signed by the Principal.
  3. Letter of Identification from the Nursing Officer in Charge of the Hospital/Health Centre/Clinic where applicant is presently employed (for Nurses trained outside Nigeria).
  4. Original Sworn Court Affidavit.
  5. Original Police Report.
  6. Photocopy of the Lost Notification letter.
  7. Original teller of a non-refundable payment of Eight Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty Naira (N8,750) only, into Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
  8. Two recent identical coloured Passport sized Photographs.

Note: There is no guarantee that such document will be re-issued on supply of above listed items. The Council shall assess the situation and use her discretion to re-issue notification where need be.
