As Nigeria’s under-18 and under-20 men’s handball teams prepare for the 2022 International Handball Federation Trophy for Africa Zone 3 in Ivory Coast, head coaches Emeka Nnamani and Fidelis Obi have expressed confidence in their teams, The PUNCH reports.
The IHF Trophy will be held from November 21 to 27 and both teams are undergoing intensive training at the Rowe Park Sports Center in Yaba, Lagos.
Several players invited for national team duties participated in the recently concluded Prudent Energy Handball Premier League.
Speaking to The PUNCH, Nnamani, the U-18 coach, said, “The camp has resumed and the boys are doing very well ahead of the tournament.
“They are responding well to training and are very motivated. I want to believe that with the preparation and support of the Nigerian Handball Federation, the team will go far in the tournament.”
On his part, Obi said the goal of the team was to enter the world stage.
“We have seven days to prepare and we have been able to work with the players we have and manage them very well.
“We have been able to identify some of their mistakes in our teammates and we will improve that before the tournament.”
