Over the years, filmmakers have been disturbed by birds (zone boys) who extort money from filmmakers and sometimes wreak havoc on film locations.
However, in an interview Saturday Beatsactress, Etinosa Idemudia, expressed that she was surprised to learn that even some nonsense can work.
He said: “I have been harassed by ‘zone boys’ several times around the Ajah and Lekki axis in Lagos. The solution to this menace is that ‘agberos’ should be given jobs. Some of them are very intelligent, but they don’t just have options. In one of the sets I was working on, they actually came to disturb, but the producer, Dabby Chimere, gave them the opportunity to act as extras in the film. That was to work for the money they wanted to get paid. To my surprise, they performed very well.”
Speaking about how he and his colleagues have to pay each time they show up at their places, Idemudia said: “In every case, we have to fix them; even if the price changes. Sometimes we even buy them a drink; it depends on their requests. The activities of these wonderful people cause stagnation, and their interruption delays the work.’
He also said it was the government’s job to limit the activities of louts. He said: “That is the job of the government, not the filmmakers. It is the responsibility of the government to provide employment and a suitable environment for the youth.”
