    Federal lawmaker’s aide abducted in Cross River

    Legislative Assistant to Chris Agibe, a House of Representatives member representing Boki-Ikom Federal Constituency Cross River Statehas been kidnapped.

    The accomplice, Kenneth Abang, was abducted in Betem community in Biase Local Government Area of ​​Cross River.

    He was kidnapped on January 30 together with his relative Eunice Abang.

    Mr. Abang’s relative, Fidelis Ekpah, told him News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) was on his way to his hometown in Calabar (Abang) on ​​Tuesday when he was abducted in Boki Local Government Area.

    Mr Ekpah said Mr Abang was traveling to prepare for his late father’s burial to be held on February 3 and 4.

    “They took them away and left his car on the side of the road.

    “This is a double tragedy for us. We were planning his father’s burial before this ugly incident happened,” Mr Ekpah said.

    “I want to call on the police, army, civil defense and the Department of State Service to come to our aid and rescue our brother and his family,” Mr. Ekpa added.

    Cross River State police spokesperson Irene Ugbo, who confirmed the kidnapping in an interview with an NAN correspondent, said efforts were underway to rescue the victims.

    “The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations has mobilized our men to the area to secure the release of Abang and his relative,” said Mrs Ugbo, the police superintendent.

    “We are on the subject. I can assure you that efforts are being made to rescue the victims and arrest the suspects.”
