There was glitz and glamor at the seventh edition of the Beatz Awards held at the Muson Center in Lagos on Saturday where Davido, DJ Lambo, Cohbams Asuquo and others won awards in different categories.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Aderombi Adedayo, popularly known as ‘Dee-One’, of Big Brother Naija fame and Ghanaian female rapper, Nana Amporful, popularly known as ‘Phronesis’, hosted the show and thrilled the guests with jokes and entertainment . .
Hip-hop music star Davido won the best songwriter award.
Chocolate City’s Olawunmi Okerayi, DJ popularly known as DJ Lambo, won Female Dj of the year for the second consecutive year while Blaise Beate won Producer of the year.
Sliverbird Television won Entertainment Tv Station of the year and MTV Base won Entertainment Cable of the year.
The award for Afro Gospel Producer of the Year went to Lagos Born drummer and Rox Nation multi-instrumentalist, Samuel Giveson, popularly known as SMJ.
Best blog of the year awards went to Bella Naija, an African lifestyle, entertainment and fashion website created by Uche Eze, while Pedroa Bandhit won the Life Best team award.
Other awards included: Tosan Wilshare, Best On Air Personality, Sean Okeke Best Artist Manager of the Year, TG Omoris Best Music Director.
YBNL won Best Record Label, Boomplay Best Music Streaming Platform and VTek Best Mixing and Mastering Engineer.

Music producer Cobhams Asuquo received a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Earlier, Chief Executive Officer of the Beatz Awards, Elijah John, said it was to recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievements of the creative minds behind music production, business and distribution.
John, who applauded the sponsors for believing in the Beats awards, said the Nigerian music award show which was first presented on November 15, 2015,
“We have to recognize the talents behind the stars; these people make these things happen.

“We want to educate people about how rich the industry is and how they can take advantage of the potential, even if they’re behind,” John said.
Asuquo, who received the Life Time Achievement Award, said, “When you start getting this recognition, it reminds you that you are getting old.
“I am grateful; I dedicate this award to everyone on my team for years of unwavering dedication,” he said.
NAN also reports that the guests were entertained with excellent performances by various musical artistes, including comedian Kenny Blaq, who took to the stage and enthralled the audience with his melodious tunes.
