INEC has declared Governor Babagana Zulum the winner of the Borno State governorship election.
Mr. Zulum, who is the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate in the election, got 545, 543 votes against his closest rival, Mohammed Jajari of the PDP who got 82, 147 votes.
INEC election candidate Jude Rabo made the statement in Maiduguri, the state capital.
Mr. Zulum secured a majority vote in all the 27 local government areas of the state, securing a second four-year term to emerge as the winner of the contest.
A total of 650,533 people were accredited throughout the state, of which 633,646 were declared for all valid votes.

Mr Zulum won his second term in office with a lower voter protection rate despite having been widely applauded over the past three years and nine months. In 2019 he got 1,175, 440 votes against the 545,543 votes he got in the 2023 elections.
