Nigerian superstar Ayo Balogun popularly known as Wizkid is currently riding the waves created by his latest album.More Love Less Ego’released on November 11.
Apple Music’s Dotty interviewed Wizkid at The Roundhouse in London, where he talked about ‘More Love, Less Ego’ and what it means to him.
During an interview following his Apple Music Live Performance on Monday, Starboy said that what the world needs right now is a lot of love.
During the interview, the singer talked about the live performance and what fans should expect. Titling his album ‘More Love, Less Ego’, Wizkid said it is part of his life’s progression.
“I have a lot of love. I have four children. This fills my heart when my son kisses me goodnight or goes to school. You can’t even buy that kind of love. That’s all that matters.
“That’s what I wanted to say. This is what I live for; my children, happiness, taking care of people close to me, my friends, spreading lots of love and doing what I do best. Totally More Love, Less Ego, man. Everyone needs it, especially now. And this war in Ukraine, man, 2022, before our eyes. People are being bombed in Africa right now. It’s crazy. This is also a record that helps,” he said.
The singer said that the show is essential for him as it is rare and essential to entertain his fans.
“You will probably understand after listening to the album; you get But, it will be fun, and I didn’t want to say too much,” he said.
He also mentioned making fantastic music as the most important thing for him.

“I do all kinds of music, and there’s nothing I can’t drive. I am an African musician, but first and foremost, I am a musician. If you put in the work, there is no way to lose.

“I’m really trying to show how God has blessed me with this talent and what I can do with it.
Unusual desire, success
The singer, who toured the venue where Dotty was set to perform, said one thing she longs for is to see herself perform.
He said: “One of my biggest dreams is to see a Wizkid show like this, but I can’t. I’m still trying to figure out why they come to my show, but I know it’s magical when I’m up there.
He also said that he was not surprised by the success.
He stated: ”If you put in the work, there’s no way you’ll lose it, and if you keep working, showing up every time, you’ll never fail.
So what does this chapter of the Wizkid story look like? The singer said it’s more about love and less ego.
More love, less ego
Within hours of the release of the album, the works are collecting huge amounts.
Released last Friday, ‘More Love, Less Ego’ has achieved the second highest opening day streams on Spotify Nigeria.
On the music chart, Turntable Charts, ‘More Love, Less Ego’ earned 1.21 million streams on Spotify Nigeria in 24 hours.
“I am trying as much as possible to take this success to the top. I want to show the kids at home that you can’t do anything.
“If I can do it from Surulere, trust me, anyone can,” he said.
‘More Love Less Ego’ comes two years after Starboy released his acclaimed album ‘Made in Lagos’.
‘Made in Lagos’ put Wizkid on such a high for the singer to get over himself.
The album’s achievements include the highest charting Nigerian album of all time on the Billboard 20 chart (No. 28). #1 album of all time on the Billboard World Albums chart (50 weeks).
