Biodun Oyebanji also known as BAO is a Nigerian politician, he was born on December 21, 1967 in Ikogosi-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria.

Biodun Oyebanji academic career began in Ikogosi-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria, at Baptist Primary School. Biodun later moved to CAC Grammar School in Efon-Alaaye, Ekiti state in 1979, Biodun Oyebanji attended Awo Community High School.

He attended the Federal School of Arts and Science in Ondo State and the District Commercial Secondary School in Aramoko-Ekiti from 1983 to 1985. He graduated from Ondo State University, currently known as Ekiti State University, with a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) degree in Political Science in 1989. He also earned a Master’s degree (M.Sc) in Political Science (International Relations & Strategic Studies) from the University of Ibadan (UI) in 1992.

Biodun Oyebanji started his professional career as a lecturer at the Department of Political Science, University of Ado Ekiti, where he worked for four years (1993 to1997) and later proceeded to work as the manager, Treasury, and Financial Services at the defunct Omega Bank Plc (now Heritage Bank) till May 1999.

Oyebanji was the Secretary to the Ekiti State Government under Governor Kayode Fayemi from October 2018 to December 2021 when he resigned to run for Governorship. On 18 June 2022, Oyebanji was elected governor on the APC platform by a 30% margin over first runner-up and SDP nominee, former Governor Olusegun Oni. It was one of the earliest winner declarations in Nigerian history as the result was announced on the night of the election.

Biodun Oyebanji enjoyed the support of the 2023 APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and also on the strength of incumbent and support of governor, Kayode Fayemi whose second tenure will be coming to an end in few months.
