US President Joe Biden said on Tuesday that it is unlikely that a missile that killed two people in Poland would be removed from Russia.

Speaking to the press after an emergency meeting with NATO and G7 leaders, he said, “There is preliminary information that contradicts that (Russia is responsible). I don’t want to say that until it’s fully investigated. But it’s unlikely, at the end of the course, that they were kicked out of Russia. But we’ll see.”

Local Polish media reports say a Russian missile strike in Ukraine landed on Polish soil on Tuesday, killing two people.

PREMIUM TIMES notify that it was initially suspected to be a Russian missile.

Russia on Tuesday denied responsibility for the attack.

“Polish media and officials deliberately provoke to escalate the situation with the statement about the alleged impact of “Russian” rockets in Przewodów. Russian hardware did NOT strike in the area,” the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a tweet.

of Poland President Andrzej Duda he asked for calm among the Poles, and added that there is no “conclusive evidence” to know who launched the missile.

“Let us be careful and not be manipulated,” he said.

However, The Associated Press cited three U.S. officials as saying that early assessments suggest that the missile that hit Poland was fired by Ukrainian forces at an incoming Russian missile.

NATO spokeswoman Oana Lungescu tweeted on Wednesday that Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will chair a meeting of the North Atlantic Council to discuss yesterday’s blast in eastern Poland near the border with Ukraine.

“The Secretary General will brief the media at NATO headquarters after the meeting,” he said.
