Two people died in a convoy of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Nuhu Zaki, after it collided with a motorbike, The PUNCH has learnt.
Another person suffered bruises and a fracture in the fatal crash.
On Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 14:25, five adults were killed in Miya village, Warji Local Government Area of Miya – Warji state.
The victims were immediately taken to Kafin Madaki General Hospital by the commissioners, where two people were confirmed dead.
The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corp, Bauchi State Command, Yusuf Abdullahi, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Thursday.
He said the government vehicle, a White Toyota Hilux bearing registration number: BA18 A08, collided with a Bajaj Boxer commercial motorcycle ridden by one Muhammad Muawuya.
Abdullahi said the fatal accident was caused by speeding which led to loss of control.
He said: “There was a fatal accident yesterday, November 16, 2022, at about 2.45pm, involving a government vehicle and a commercial motorcycle.
“The government vehicle is a White Toyota Hilux with registration number BA18 A08 which collided with a commercial Bajaj Boxer motorcycle ridden by one Muhammad Muawuya.
“Multiple accidents were caused by speeding, resulting in loss of control followed by a vehicle-motorcycle collision in Miya village on the Miya-Warji route, involving five male adults.
“The victims who were in the entourage of Commissioner Nuhu Zaki, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy were taken to Kafin Madaki General Hospital (commissioner) for treatment and confirmation.
“A doctor at the hospital there confirmed that two people had died. Another person suffered bruises and a fracture.’
