Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has been criticized by Nigerians on social media for his comments on Labor Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
PUNCH earlier reported that Soludo said Obi could not win the 2023 presidential election, adding that Obi himself knows he will not win the presidential seat.
The governor, who said in an article titled “History beckons and I will not be silent (Part 1)” on Monday, added that the LP pennant is only flying in the games.
Soludo said: “Let’s be clear: Peter Obi knows he cannot and will not win. He knows the game he’s playing, and we know it, and he knows we know it.
“The game being played is the main reason All Progressives did not return to the Grand Alliance. The brutal truth (and some will say, God forbid) is that there are two people/parties running for president: the rest is exciting drama!
Nigerians on Twitter have reacted to Soludo’s comment about Obi. Soludo is currently the second trending topic on Twitter with over 210,000 tweets
On Twitter, Moris Monye, the brother of the former presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Chukwuma Monye, said that in the last seven years at the helm of the APC, Soludo never criticized the Buhari-led administration for the state of the country, but decided to criticize Obi. .
Monye tweeted: “No one is asking the Igbo political class to support Peter Obi but at least treat him with dignity and respect.Keep your support but be dignified.
“He tells Soludo’s character that after eight years of horizontal wickedness, incompetence and waste of the Buhari regime, he did not utter a word of criticism to the general. But Peter Obi comes along and his oral cavity comes to life.
Also on Twitter, #EndSARS participant, Rinu Oduola said: “That article by Soludo is totally shameless, undignified, stinks of envy, bile and jealousy, provocative and offensive. Referring to someone as Hitler, calling people Nazis? Words escape me.’
Oduola further said: “Charles Soludo has no time for Anambra flood victims but he has time to write a serial diatribe about Peter Obi. Shame on me @CCSoludo.”
Another popular tweep, Akin Olaoye said: “Peter Obi, please don’t ask us to not address your support base on @CCSoludo’s comment. He said he is your friend and family but that article is poisonous, toxic and your accomplishments it was a poor attempt at being funny.
Also, Edwin Ogelenya commented, “Professor Umeadi (APGA presidential candidate) and Peter Obi are relatives of Soludo. Is it likely that Umeadi will win the presidential election? No! Is Obi likely to win? Probably. Therefore, Soludo should support APGA, and that is all right, but he must not distress his relative.”
In another tweet Emmanuel said: “We don’t want him (Soludo) to support Obi, just give him equal footing. Something is not for politics, announce your candidate and not emotionally blackmail people to vote. What Soludo is doing is emotional blackmail and Peter Obi For the people who swore to elect him, this will not work.”
The governor of Anambra State, however, said everything he wrote in the article he told Obi face to face.
