Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have eliminated 103 Boko Haram/Islamic State in West Africa in the past three weeks in the northeast.
Director of Defense Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Musa Danmadami, stated this while reviewing the progress of military operations in Abuja on Thursday.
He said troops have also apprehended 22 terrorists in theater including four commanders and 18 collaborators.
He reported that while the troops rescued 30 kidnapped civilians, 280 terrorists and their families surrendered to 148 military children consisting of 29 males, 73 females and 148 children in the theater of operations.
According to him, OPHK’s ground and air components remained dominant in the general area as they were conducting operational activities in towns, villages and mountains.
“In the thousands, weeks of focus, the troops received 20 AK47 rifles, two G3 rifles, five FN rifles, two QJC pistols, one gun truck, 2,411 7.62mm special rounds, 143 7.62mm pistol belts, NATO, a barreta 26 AK47 magazines, four bandoliers, four 36 hand grenades, among others.
“Other items recovered are 33 motorbikes, 33 bicycles, medical supplies, 50 percent male and female parts, grain bags, groundnut oil containers, detergent cartons, the sum of N291,060 and various other items.
“All recovered items, rescued civilians and arrested terrorists have been handed over to the appropriate authority for further action while the surrendered Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists and their family members are being profiled for further action,” he said. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
