President-elect Bola Tinubu, on Thursday in Abuja, met with governors of the All Progressives Congress, paid them a courtesy call and urged them to work with the party leadership and lawmakers in the selection of senior officers of the National Assembly.
“We thank God Almighty for our election victory. It was tough and confusing.
“The challenge before us is to work together with the leadership of the party and the National Assembly to elect their key positions. And I charge you to join with enthusiasm and faith and work along the lines of the party,” he said.
The president-elect told the party’s governors and former governorship candidates: “Return or not, this is our government.
“Once we know what we are doing and communicating as elected and loyal men of the party, we will conquer the challenge.”
He reiterated his earlier warnings that, as a leader, he was elected to serve the people and humanity with fairness and justice.
Emotionally, Mr. Tinubu expressed his gratitude to God, saying, “The first Muslim minority in the Southwest got the blessing of Allah to be elected president.”
Dismissing speculation about his health, the president-elect said: “All speculations have been lost and their providers have been put to shame.”

The Chairman of the Progressive Governors, Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, who led his colleagues to Mr. Tinubu’s residence, said the visit was to congratulate the president-elect on his election, extend goodwill and welcome him at the end of the Ramadan Fast. come back from his last trip and celebrate with him.
He also said that the governors were ready for the tasks that the elected president may give them.
On the task of electing the Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr. Bagudu promised that the governor would continue to discuss and work with the party and lawmakers to make the best decision in the interest of the country.
The governors recently proposed a zoning formula to elect the leadership of the National Assembly.
They recommended the zoning of the President of the Senate to the South-East or South-South regions and the Speaker of the House of Representatives to the North-West or North-Central regions.

Ebonyi State Deputy Governor, Kelechi Igwe and Kano State APC Governorship Candidate, Nasiru Gawuna were also present.
