International music sensation, Temilade Openiyi, professionally known as Tems, on Tuesday received yet another global recognition when he bagged an Oscar nomination.
The Nigerian singer was nominated in the Best Original Song category. He was nominated for his contribution to Rihanna’s ‘Lift Me’, the soundtrack to Marvel’s ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.
The nominations for the 96th Academy Awards were announced early Tuesday morning. The winners will be honored at a ceremony on March 12 in Los Angeles.
Tems co-wrote “Lift Me” with global singer Rihanna, music producer Ludwig Göransson and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler.
In November 2022, he was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Melodic Rap Performance – Featured Artist for Future’s single ‘Wait For U’ and Best Rap Song.
Her collaboration with Wizkid on her hit ‘Essence’ also earned her a nomination in the Best Global Music Performance category, making her the first Nigerian female singer to earn a Grammy nomination.
Snoops appeal
In a video circulating on social media platforms, American rapper Snoop Dog reached out to Tems for a musical collaboration.
While asking him to get in touch, he said that his whole family has been dancing to his music and would like to work with him on a musical collaboration.
