The Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed that a road accident along the Maiduguri-Damaturu road claimed the lives of three workers of the Alhaji Abubakar El-kanemi palace of the Shehu of Borno.
The state Corps Commander, Utten Iki Boyi, told newsmen in Maiduguri on Tuesday that six people were involved in Monday’s accident, but three were rescued at a nearby hospital.
He said the incident happened around Benishei area when the vehicle crashed and caught fire.
“Immediately we received the report, our team went to the scene of the incident. Three unidentified people were burned. However, three others were rescued and taken to the Benishie General Hospital for treatment.
“I can confirm that, unfortunately, all three lost their lives,” he said.
The three burnt passengers were believed to be workers of the Shehu of Borno, while three others survived with injuries.
