    Rivers to play CAF home games in Uyo

    Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Rivers United, have hosted the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State for their home matches in the CAF Confederation Cup after CAF rejected the home stadium.

    Rivers United played their preliminary matches in the competition at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, but the stadium met the Confederation of African Football’s requirements for group stage matches despite Rivers State’s recent renovation of the facility. government

    According to the schedules released by CAF, Rivers United will start their campaign away from home against ASEC Mimosas on February 12, and play their first home game against the same opponents on February 19.

    Conferences revealed that the other home games against DC Motema Pembe and Diables Noirs will be played on March 8 and 19 respectively in Uyo.

    Rivers United are Nigeria’s only surviving representatives on the continent this season after knocking out Plateau United, Kwara United and Remo Stars in the playoffs.
