The Gombe State Police Command on Thursday presented checks worth N9,232,576.77 to the families and next of kin of policemen killed in the IGP’s Life Assurance Group Scheme when they died in active service.
Presenting the cheques, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Oqua Etim, presented checks amounting to N9,232,576.77 to three beneficiaries of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman, under the Family Group Life Assurance Scheme.
The beneficiaries of the scheme are Zainab Abdullahi Salisu who received N3,548,717.17; Ameria Abiathar received N3,548,717.17 and Jethro Usman received N2,135,142.43.
Commissioner of Police, CP. Oqua Etim, who presented the checks to the beneficiaries on behalf of the police chief at the police headquarters, said, “The Inspector General of Police is very passionate about the welfare of the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force. As a result of this huge progress, on behalf of the IGP, the sum of N9,232,576.77 I present the checks to the families and next of kin of the deceased policemen under the ‘IGP’s Group Life Assurance Scheme’ who died while in active service to their country.”
CP Etim assured them that the police would not relent in its welfare plan for the workers who have sacrificed their lives fighting for the peace and progress of the country.
He asked the beneficiaries to use the money wisely for the maintenance and welfare of the families and advised the guardians to help ensure good education for the families of the deceased Policemen.
According to him, “The IGP’s Group Life Assurance Scheme was meant to help the families of the bereaved”.
Responding on behalf of others, two of the beneficiaries, Zainab Abdullahi and Jethro Usman, expressed gratitude to God Almighty for witnessing the gesture of the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police for coming to their aid. using the money as it comes when it is needed.
According to Usman, “words are not enough to express our gratitude. We promise you that we will use what we receive in a good way to ensure the good sustenance of our families.”
