The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, on Wednesday launched the “IGP-SmartForce Database Management Centre” for digitization and biometric capture of personnel records of all officers of the Nigeria Police Force, PUNCH the reports
This was as the IG ordered the complete overhaul of the former system and the speedy initiation of the digitization process in all commands and formations of the Nigeria Police to get the system up and running on time.
According to police authorities, the move is to ensure the capture and storage of officers’ data for record purposes and to ease administrative burdens, create ease of tracking shipments and transfers and issue Radio Frequency Identification Cards to identify personnel.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement obtained by our correspondent on Wednesday said, “SmartForce has storage servers based at the National Command and Control Center of the Nigeria Police and the SmartForce office at the office of the Secretary of the Force. Force Headquarters, Abuja, NPF is to be integrated into an ICT-based system. target
“This is to simplify the management of NPF personnel records, to manage the entire police force, to manage and identify each NPF personnel in a unique way, and it is structured with modern technological concepts to control the distribution and access of personnel throughout the country.”
He also stated that the system will assist the office of the Force Secretary in planning for the deployment of personnel in the NPF, budget related issues, tracking and identification of police personnel and records of recovering and retired police personnel. .
Adejobi added: “The IG has equally indicated the practical training of the PPRO and ICT officers in the 36 state commands and the FCT at the Force Headquarters on the handling and use of the gadgets provided to capture the data of all personnel. -Technological biometric machine with unique features such as fingerprint scanner , a smart 2D scanner and facial recognition app.
