Ahead of Thursday’s international friendly against Portugal, Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has revealed the team’s aim to face a star-studded squad that will be led by Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo. PUNCH the reports

In an interview with a radio station in Lisbon, Portugal, Peseiro said that as the Eagles tried to dominate possession of the game, they would also try to win the game.

The three-time African champions have failed to win in their last 11 friendlies but will be hoping to end the unwanted streak when they face the Euro 2016 champions at the Jose Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon.

Speaking ahead of the much-anticipated match, the 62-year-old tactician said his intention was to ensure they did not lose by a huge margin.

“If we can’t win, let’s draw. If we can’t draw, let’s not lose too much. That’s the goal,” said the Portuguese tsf.

The Nigerian national team will not be in Qatar for the World Cup, however, they have participated in friendlies against the teams that will be in the biggest showcase of football, such as Mexico, Ecuador and now Portugal.

In response, Peseiro said: “The strategic side of the game is always there; however, in my mind and in my mind is the future, the next game.

“The games we want to play against the best teams. Otherwise, I could only play behind. I don’t know if Portugal will allow us and if we will be able to do what we want, but we want to play the game all over the pitch and also have the ball, because we have players with the quality and ability to do that. “.
