the african Football expert, Malu Mpasinkatu, has praised Nigeria international Victor Osimhen for his impact at Napoli, noting that the former Lille star has the makings of one of the best strikers in the world.
Mpasinkatu stated this TMW Radio as reported by Naples areabut advised that the 23-year-old Napoli goalscorer still needed to improve in some areas.
“How much has Osimh grown? Spalletti immediately defined him as a force of nature, but he needs to work on his shortcomings. He is a forward who needs to improve in accuracy, he is already more this year. And you see someone who doesn’t save himself for the team getting the ball back from the back and that often has an effect on his clarity in front. He can become one of the best strikers in the world in the coming years,” he said.
He added that Osimhen’s performance has attracted interest from Europe’s top clubs and he could be tempted to make a move if Partenopei wins the Scudetto.
“Could Osimhen play in the summer? My feeling is that he is focused on making history for Napoli. Then it may depend on the Scudetto factor: if Napoli win at the end of the year, we’ll see what happens.
“In Naples, it has found its dimension, there is an important African community in Naples and therefore, it feels like home. Offers beyond any logic will be evaluated if they arrive at the end of the year.”
The Super Eagles star, who joined the Serie A leaders in September 2022 for a club fee of €75m, has been in impressive form to help Napoli top the Serie A table with 41 points and 11 goals in 14 games this season.
Osimhen emerged as the best young player of the year in 2022, winning the prestigious 2022 Globe Soccer Awards on Thursday, winning the Gavi and Valverde awards.
