The Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on Tuesday played host to some Americans who traced their roots in Ile-Ife kingdom.
The Americans took Asoju Asa of Ile Oodua, Dotun Taylor to Ooni.
Ooni emphasized the thrill of identifying the root of one’s origin.
“Compared to our relatives here, if you take a closer look at yourselves, you will agree with me that there is no difference between us.
“The only difference is that my ancestors lost the boat that yours caught.
“So, my dear children, welcome home and I pray that the meaningful names you are being given today will manifest in all your endeavors.
“Luckily for you, your source (Ile-Ife) in the Federal Republic of Nigeria is full of beautiful people and a very safe environment,” Mr. Ogunwusi said.
He asked them to increase their economic presence in Ile-Ife and exploit various investment opportunities.

Earlier, Mr Taylor explained that the visitors are believed to be of African descent after a scientific test known locally as “Ancestral DNA” confirmed that they have a high concentration of the African gene.
“Kabiyesi Alase is the result of consistent investment in the promotion of our renowned culture and preservation of Yoruba history.
“This is the beginning of a process that will lead foreigners of black origin to become Nigerians and especially to have Yoruba children.
“We are working with all the necessary authorities in this regard, including the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs under the leadership of our father Oonia,” Mr Taylor said.
On behalf of the Americans, Delzora Dotson, who will now go by the name Delzora Omotilewa Dotson, described the experience as worthwhile.
Ms. Dotson said she can’t wait to tell her friends and family about her discovery.
“Right now, I’m feeling the connection of creation and I’m happy to be back home,” he said.
