After some nervous games and competitions, Akinwale Awatt, an Economics graduate National Open University (NOUN), was the winner of the inaugural edition of Naija Highlandah.
Awatt conquered all obstacles, earned his kilt and bragging rights as the first ever Naija Highlandah champion, winning a trip to Scotland and a prize money of N2 million.
William Lawson’s, a Scotch whiskey brand, began its quest for this coveted role on October 6 with a final battle between 15 contestants: 13 men and two women.
It ended on Saturday with the final bout held at The Stables, Union Bank Sports Ground, Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos.
Organizers were looking for the most daring, daring and humorous person to represent the iconic Highlander brand this year.
The contestants proved their passion, heart and mind as they competed in tough challenges for the top spot in the pageant held across Lagos State.
The ARB team opened the event with an energetic performance at The Stables, Union Bank Sports Ground, Lagos, venue of the final.
At the same time, guests at the event hosted by William Lawson were entertained by ‘Gongo Aso’ crooner, 9ice, Orezi, ARB Band and many others.
The process
The organizers started the last round of their games, starting with hurdles and moving on to bull riding.

The brave finalists showed they were ready for more challenges yet as they appeared at The Stables to stand out from the rest and be the last chance to be named Naija Highlandah.
The winner, Awatt, proved himself to be the most orthodox and fearless person in Nigeria by defying expectations, overcoming obstacles and defeating his competitors.
Various challenges including Spin The Bottle, Animal Imitation and Balloon Games helped determine Naija Highlandah.
There were also daring challenges, including a heel game involving men in high heels, timed and fast on thin boards.
Awatt, who hails from Lagos state, is an entrepreneur and talent manager.
A foodie who loves cooking more than anything else, he is the manager of Tiamo Catering Services and loves soccer and swimming.
After her victory, Awatt said the pageant has motivated many Nigerians, including herself, to come out in large numbers and be fearless.
He said: “I’m delighted to be a part of it and looking forward to the trip to Scotland.”
Other finalists include Jamiu Jimoh, Tajudeen Ajibola, Emeka Okoye, Lewis Okonkwo, Chibuzor Ezeugwu, Joakin Nwaigbo, Omobolanle Omoniyi and Paul Aniefiok.
Others include Samuel Imo, Linda Okeke, Bamidele Modashiru, Adewale Lateef, Razzaq Bakare and Boluwatife Azeez.
