    Nine die in Kano road accident – Official

    The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the death of nine persons while three others were rescued in a road accident at Fada Dam on Dayi Road in Gwarzo Local Government Area of ​​the state.
    This was received by the spokesperson Saminu Abdullahi in a statement issued to journalists on Sunday in Kano.

    He said the accident happened on Saturday afternoon.

    Mr. Abdullahi said, “We received an emergency call from our station at about 6:45 a.m. from one Ali Mai-faci that a Golf Wagon had collapsed inside the fada dam.

    “Upon receiving the information, we quickly dispatched our rescue team to the spot around 7.10pm to pull out the victims.

    “On arrival we found out that it was a vehicle that was coming from Kano, was carrying about 12 people going to Katsina, without registration.

    “With the good efforts of our men and local fishermen, we rescued three people alive.

    “Nine unconscious persons were rescued and taken to Gwarzo General Hospital for medical attention while doctors on duty confirmed the victims dead,” he said.

    Mr. Abdullahi added that the rescued victims were local Katsina State and all with unknown names.

    He added that the accident involved two children aged about six months, four women between the ages of 25, 27, 28 and 30 and six men between the ages of 28 and 48.

    He said the cause of the accident was a tire blowout, which led to loss of control.

    The spokesman also said that witnesses told them that a victim was still inside the dam and that rescue teams would continue to search.
