It’s been a great year for Nigerian Afrobeats musician Temilade Openiyi popularly known as Tems.
The internationally recognized singer has been selected for the 95th Oscars.
Tems was nominated in the Music (Original Song) category for co-writing the song ‘Lift me’ on the Marvel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) presented the lists of nominees for the 2023 Oscars in 10 categories.
Documentary and international features and include documentary short subject, makeup and hair, original score, original song, animated short, live action short, and sound and visual effects.
Although the list differs from the official nominations, the official nominations will be announced on January 24, 2023.
The Academy Awards will then take place at the Dolby Theatre, Ovation Hollywood, USA on March 12, 2023.
This year, the 27-year-old artist also received songwriting credits on Beyonce’s ‘Renaissance’ album; he got another big one.
In November, he was nominated for the Grammy Awards at the 65th edition of the prestigious event. His performance with Wizkid on the song ‘Essence’ earned him the spot.
