The newly appointed Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Y. D Ahmed, took over from Christy Uba on Monday at a handover ceremony in Abuja with a commitment to take the organization to greater heights.
He also presented a five-point agenda on security, good environment, strengthening stakeholder engagement, capacity building and deepening the impact of Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development.
He said: “I assure you, I will not stop the high pace, we will collectively take the scheme to new heights.
“This administration will be open and will pay special attention to the strategies that will lead to the desired improvement in the general operation of the Regime.”
Ahmed presented a five-point policy line that will drive his administration.
These are, “Improving security, the well-being of the corps and workers to provide an ideal service to the nation;
“To provide an ideal environment for research and development for the progress of the project;
“Strengthening the commitment of agents to promote the boundaries of the project;
“Improving the ability to promote greater efficiency and corporate performance; and
“Deepening the impact of the skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development program.”
Ahmed advised the staff of the scheme to cooperate with him to take the NYSC to higher levels of achievement.
Uba assured me that the management team and the entire staff will give the new CEO the necessary support to make him a success.
“We are aware of the nature of the tasks of NYSC operations.
“However, our experience, loyalty and love for work will always be there to overcome challenges, as well as to ensure success in all actions”, he stated.
