How did your love story begin?
I was hosting a radio program where I freelanced when he came to do the voiceover. I saw this beautiful baby sitting in one of the studios not far from me. I could see from where I was, because the rooms were bordered by glass walls and the sharp eyes the Lord gave me helped me see far. So the man of God went to the daughter of Zion to say, hi (laughs).
What were your first impressions when you saw it?
He was naive and innocent; Lagos boys have not spoiled it. I also found him to be nice and respectful.
What events convinced you to start your wedding journey?
Every event that happened between us sealed my decision to marry him. Among other things, the times we went to events and church together convinced me to pop the question.
What event made your wedding day memorable?
That would be the ‘Couple’s First Dance’. It was a special moment for both of us.
How was the wedding trip?
Unlike most marriages, the first two years of our marriage were hell. A few months after our marriage, my wife gave birth to our son and a month after his birth there was a lockdown of COVID-19. Due to the nature of my work, which can mostly only happen in a crowd, I was out of work for almost a year. As my wife had just given birth to our baby, she was unable to start work, this led to many quarrels, arguments and fights due to the pressure we were under. But now, we can say, glory to God.
How do you manage to balance your career and home?
I tried my best to separate them. My work is event oriented so I stay home (when I don’t) mostly with my family and it’s been lovely.
What has been the best part of your marriage so far?
The best so far was when we had our son. He turned out just like me and carried many of my sweet features. It has been a blessing for us.
What is the best part of being married in general?
The best part of being married is having someone to run with in every situation. There is a bond that arises when one’s spouse is family and is on a higher level than one’s childhood family.
What advice do you have for young people planning to get married?
Take your time and build; let each other make mistakes and learn from them. Also, be prepared for the storm and anticipate it so it doesn’t catch you off guard. Intentionally love and create moments of love with your partner and put Jesus at the center.
