The highly anticipated series produced by the MTV Staying Alive Foundation, MTV Shuga Naija Season 5 premiered on Thursday, April 27, 2022 at an exclusive event held in Lagos.
The event included a press conference that discussed the themes of the series, followed by a private screening of the new season, which combines a cast of established and rising stars including Adesua Etomi-Wellington, John Njamah, Tomiwa Tegbe, Maggie Osuome, Okey Uzoeshi, Gbubemi Ejeye, Genoveva Umeh, Ilooise Omohimin, Sharon Jatto, Lexan Peters, Bolaji Ogunmola and Susan Pwajok.
Big Brother Titans star, Kanaga Jnr., and Chioma Edak who played the lead and supporting actors, respectively, won. MTV Shuga Naija public hearings last year.
Speaking at the event, MTV Staying Alive Foundation Country Director Anita Adesiyan said: “This season, we have partnered with Unitaid, the Global Innovation Fund and Paramount to address gender-based violence, confidence in the COVID-19 vaccine, women’s empowerment, modern contraception, as well as Also order HIV self test kits available in Nigeria.

The eight-episode series, produced in partnership with 1Pod Pictures – a female-led Nigerian production company – will premiere on May 7.
