Mother killed on Al-Mustapha’s order – Kudirat Abiola’s children

The children of the late Kudirat Abiola have said that their mother was killed on the orders of Major Action Alliance presidential candidate Hamza Al-Mustapha.

Khafila Abiola, speaking on behalf of Kudirat’s children, was reacting to a statement attributed to Al-Mustapha where he said Vice President Yemi Osinbajo forced Seargent Jabila Mshiola, aka Sergeant Rogers, to implicate him (Al-Mustapha). 1998 Oputa panel.

At the table, Sergeant Rogers confessed to participating in the killing on Al-Mustapha’s orders.

Although Al-Mustapha was sentenced to death by hanging in 2012, he was later acquitted by the Lagos Court of Appeal.

However, in an interview recently published by Sahara Reporters, Al-Mustapha said that Osinbajo, the then Attorney General of Lagos, coached Sergeant Rogers on what to say to indict him (Al-Mustapha).

Responding to the interview, Kudirat Abiola’s children in a statement made available to The PUNCH on Tuesday said: “Our attention has been drawn to the recent statement made by Major Hamza Al-Mustapha.

“In it, he accused the current Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN, of falsely claiming that he, Al-Mustapha, was behind the killing of our mother, Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, by Sergeant Rogers.

“First, we all watched the proceedings of the Oputa Panel where Sergeant Rogers freely stated that he killed our mother and attempted to kill Senator Abraham Adesanya and Chief Alex Ibru, who was the publisher of The Guardian, based on his instructions. By Major Al-Mustapha .

“The evidence of Sergeant Rogers was not challenged by Al-Mustapha and his lawyers at the Oputa Panel.

“Secondly, the Lagos High Court convicted and sentenced the armed operatives of Al-Mustapha to prison for the attempted assassination of Senator Abraham Adesanya.

“Thirdly, the Lagos State High Court also convicted and sentenced Al-Mustapha and his accomplices to death for the cold-blooded murder of our mother.

“The later acquittal by the Court of Appeal was probably politically motivated. The appeal against the judgment is in the Supreme Court.

“However, Al-Mustapha may be reckoned with the pervasive culture of impunity in Nigeria, not only denying his dastardly role in the killing of a defenseless woman; but now even considering running for office, along with Mohammed Abacha, who provided his driver to carry out the assassin’s mission.

“Impunity wastes the promise of democracy for which our beloved mother paid the ultimate price.

“As those who oversaw her killing seek to rewrite history of what they did, we are compelled to seek justice for our beloved mother in a jurisdiction that cannot tolerate the political games prevailing in Nigeria.

“Justice may be delayed, but it must not be denied.”

Kudirat, wife of the late MKO chief, Abiola, was killed on June 4, 1996.
