Moscalino and Ozone emerged as champions of the Lagos State Table Tennis League which concluded at the Surulere National Stadium. PUNCH Sports supplement the reports
A total of 28 teams entered the championships and four of them reached the grand final with Moscalino’s men’s team lifting the trophy by defeating High Endurology 3-0 in a one-sided final match that ended in Moscalino’s favor.
In the women’s final, Ozone showed their dominance by beating Banana Royal Peace 3-0 to lift the coveted trophy.
Bisloa Asaju captain of the victorious Ozone team praised the LSSTTA for running a wonderful table tennis league.
“We are very excited about winning the League. We have been playing since last month and we thank God for finishing it and winning the final. We would like to thank the Lagos State Table Tennis Association for organizing the league. It was a very successful tournament”, he said.
Etim Orok of Moscalino TTC said, “I am excited to come to Lagos with my team to play here and win the Lagos State Table Tennis League”.
“It all ended in this great final and as we could see, it was of a high and international standard. I can assure you that we will do more next year with the help of more sponsors. We will definitely do another tournament, date to be confirmed, but we need sponsors to make it bigger and better, especially if we have a name attached to the league. So we are asking companies to join this and help the development of table tennis in Lagos and Nigeria.’
An excited LSTTA president, Tunji Lawal, termed the tournament a success despite the challenges.
