The Lagos State Neighborhood Security Agency has called on security operatives and other stakeholders to collaborate with communities and step up their patrols as the July season approaches.
The Director General of LNSA, Dr. Ifalade Oyekan, made the call on Tuesday in Onika, Lagos, at a security interest and awareness programme.
Oyekan, in his speech, urged members of the community to always report any crime in their sphere of influence to security operatives.
He said, “Addressing the security challenges in the state should be a joint effort of both security personnel and civilians, as they all have a role to play.
“I also want to draw the attention of other security personnel in the state to the fast approaching Christmas season and the crime rate associated with the end of the year. This is the time when all law enforcement agencies will work hard and increase their efforts to restore law and order. I urge other important security personnel with the LNSA to cooperate in order to prevent the security challenges of the state”.
The representative of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier Muhammed Abubakar, promised to support and collaborate with the LNSA to curb crime in the state.
On his part, the representative of the Nigerian Navy, Lt. Godwin Egbunu, said: “The security challenges across the country did not appear suddenly, it was due to indiscipline and the way some parents groom their children that have turned them into miscreants. Now the security environment of the community threatening.”
