Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has mourned the death of the Vice Chancellor of Malete, Kwara State, Prof. Mohammed Akanbi, SAN.
Akanbi is said to have died on Sunday night after a brief illness.
Details about what caused the illness were still sketchy at the time of filing this report.
However, Abdulrazaq, his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, on Sunday night mourned the late KWASU VC, in part, “Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has described the death of the Vice Chancellor as painful and shocking. Kwara State University (KWASU) Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi, SAN.
“We submit to the decree of Allah, who gives and takes away. It is against this background that we mourn the Vice Chancellor who answered the call of Allah tonight. He was a true and humble servant of Allah and we ask our God, the Oft-Forgiving and the Merciful, to grant him Firdaus al-jannah,” the Governor said.
“The law professor was a colossus who played a leading role in opening a new chapter of academic excellence and greatness for KWASU. Our condolences go out to his family, immediate and extended, to KWASU and the rest of the academic community and members of the bar and bench in Kwara State and across the country,” the statement added.
Akanbi will be buried at his farm in Ilorin according to Islamic rites on Monday, November 21, 2022.
