Kano political singer, Dauda Kahutu, popularly known as Rara, on Tuesday asked a Shari’ah High Court sitting in Rijiyar Zaki to dismiss a case filed by a businessman, Muhammad Ma’aji, for non-payment of money. Over N10 billion.
Rara’s lawyer, GA Badawi, told the court that the case has no basis and should therefore be dismissed in re-hearings presided over by Justice Halhalatul Khuza’i Zakariyya.
He added that he had sent the answer to the accusers and the judge in writing, but the Prosecutor’s Office said that he was late for the judge to sit down.
The complainant, Muhammad Ma’aji, told the court that he has documented all the evidence in writing to support his claims.
According to him, since the beginning of his business relationship with Rara in 2021, he has not received any payment.
Justice Halhalatul Khuza’i Zakariyya ordered the prosecution counsel to respond in writing to the defense counsel and the judge as well.
Justice Halhalatul adjourned the case to May 12 for additional hearing.
