The Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the Adamawa State governorship election inconclusive.
Although the latest results by INEC showed Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the PDP with the highest number of votes, INEC said the canceled votes were more than the margin of victory between Mr. Fintiri and the APC runner-up, Aisha Dahiru.
A new date will be fixed for re-election in the areas where elections could not be held in the state.
At the end of the official counting of results, Mr. Fintiri defeated Mrs. Dahiru, popularly called Binani, by more than 30,000 votes.
The incumbent governor got 421,524 votes and Mrs. Dahiru got 390,275 votes.
Mr. Fintiri also won the elections in 13 of the 21 local government areas of Adamawa, Binani in the remaining eight.
The Adamawa governorship seat was a close contest between the two candidates.
Binani, a senator, is known in the state mainly for his philanthropy.
