Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has announced that his administration is building a new political structure in the state.
This is also what he said his government represents the collective aspirations of the Kwara people.
The governor disclosed this at an awards ceremony held to honor founding fathers, heroes and achievers of Kwara, according to his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, on Saturday.
“Senior citizens, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, this administration represents the collective aspirations of our people for progress, development, rule of law and respect for the dignity of the human person. This has guided our steps during the last three and a half years. Our programs, projects and policies are designed to give everyone a fair chance.
“We are focused on infrastructure and human capital development, as well as giving each segment of our state a fair share of what our resources can pay. We are also building a new political culture that will respect autonomy, industry and healthy competition,” the statement said.
He also said the awards highlight his administration’s efforts to promote excellence, work, patriotism, inclusion and sustainable development.
“On behalf of the government and the people of this state, I congratulate all our awardees. The award is our gratitude for what you have done and continue to do to make Kwara proud. This award is a strategy to promote excellence and patriotism in our state. It is also an obligatory effort to question history and put it in the right perspective,” he said.
“Kwara is a land of great people with impressive footprints, dead or alive; therefore, the list of recipients of this award will be expanded in the following editions, God willing.
“In the last three and a half years, we have invested so much to refocus our state’s development priorities. This has been tough in the face of global economic challenges. However, we are proud of the progress made in all sectors. Measured by where we come from, human capital development indices have never been be so bright, verifiable and relatable across Kwara State.However, we recognize the gaps that exist and are committed to beating our records.
“We are not perfect. So we need you to continue to engage with us in good faith so that we can continue to improve,” the governor said.
Among those receiving lifetime achievement and posthumous awards were former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Alfa Salihu Modibbo Belgore; Former head of Nigeria’s secret police, Abdullahi Adangba; Dr. Amuda Aluko; the late Chief Josiah Olawoyin; Okin Biscuit Founder and Chief Educator Emmanuel Adesoye; Former Senate Leader Olusola Saraki; Northern Nigeria’s first lawyer AbdulGaniyu Folorunsho Abdul-Razaq, SAN; Jayegbade Alao the living music legend; Former Central Bank Governor and Special Adviser to the President on Economic Affairs Dr. Sarah Alade; The late Ahman Patigi, and Mahmud Babatunde Belgore, who was the chief judge of the Federal Court.
