The Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, has condoled with the family of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Professor Uche Ikonne.
In a statement signed by the governor on Wednesday, Ikpeazu ordered that all flags in PDP offices in Abia State be lowered and flown at half-mast, all campaign activities of the party at all levels will be suspended until Monday, January 30, 2023, in honor of the deceased. Abia PDP flag.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Grand Alliance has expressed shock at the news of Ikonne’s death.
The national chairman of the party, Dr. Victor Ike Oye Ozonkpu, and in a press statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, said the death of Ikoone party was not only “a loss to Abia State, but the entire country contributed tremendously. the training of many professionals as vice-chancellor”.
The APGA chairman advised other political parties not to politicize death but to view it with sympathy and love.
