The management of Ibom Airlines Limited has taken delivery of two Airbus A320-200 aircraft as an addition to its fleet to meet the demands of the holiday season.
The planes, which arrived over the weekend, were purchased from GetJet Airlines UAB (doing as GETJET), a European aircraft leasing company, on a one-year wet-lease contract.
This was received by Aniekan Essienette, the airline’s Chief Marketing and Communications Director, in a statement.
The airline’s CEO, George Uriesi, said the wet-lease deal is a stopgap measure taken to meet current demands and growth, adding that Ibom Air’s ten new A220-300 deliveries are scheduled to begin. In the second semester of 2023.
According to the statement, deliveries of ten new Airbus A220-300 aircraft were fixed for November 2021 at the Dubai Airshow.
The statement read: “With this new capacity on board, we are pleased to inform our passengers that we have increased our offering, offering more frequencies for their convenience.
“The Uyo-Lagos and Uyo-Abuja routes have three frequencies every weekday, while our passengers traveling between Lagos and Abuja will have seven frequencies to choose from on both routes, every weekday.”
The statement also said that the new flight schedules will come into effect from November 23rd, otherwise to meet the demand during the holiday season.
