IBAKATV offers new distribution system, free data

IBAKATV, an online movie streaming platform, has unveiled a new free data and movie distribution system to give its subscribers an “unparalleled movie downloading and streaming experience”.

Speaking at a media briefing, the company’s Managing Director and CEO, Blessed Idornigie, stated that the platform was constantly looking to facilitate ways for their subscribers to easily access, download and stream movies.

He said: “As of today, in order to access movies on streaming platforms like ours, customers need to subscribe for internet data, as well as subscribe to our service. But over time, we have seen that many customers find it difficult to stream movies because of the cost of content consumption. The problem is not the cost of the subscription, but the cost. One of the biggest challenges we found was that no matter how great Nollywood is in terms of content creation, it has not generated much revenue for the industry. We then realized that until we have strong market penetration, the industry will not do well in terms of revenue generation.” .

He added that the company had entered into a partnership with two telecom companies to provide free data to customers. He said: “We came up with an innovation and partnered with Globacom and MTN. The innovation is a new product we just launched. Anyone who subscribes to one of our packages will have access to premium movies and unlimited free data.

“I must point out that the data is unlimited. Subscribers can use it to watch movies as well as surf the Internet. They have 100 percent control over the data.”

Idonijie added that the company has also introduced a reseller app where agents can sell subscription vouchers and make a commission.
