Labor Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has said he knows the root of the country’s problem.
Obi said this on Thursday in Rivers State, where he was invited by the state governor, Nyesom Wike, to inaugurate the Nkpolu-Oroworokwo Flyover, the ninth flyover under the Wike administration.
Obi said the problem with Nigeria was that the country was not productive.
He said he had researched the country and knew what would benefit each region, assuring his commitment to a better Nigeria.
He said: “I know the problem of the country. Nigeria is not a productive state.
“I have said again and again that I know what to do for the benefit of all parts of the country. When we campaigned in the North I told them that we will develop their vast lands. They have land so we will develop it.
“The Southwest will be our financial center and the East will be our manufacturing base. We will revive the Rivers seaport so that we can be exporting from there.”
In Port-Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, the presidential candidate who was welcomed by a large crowd called on the people of Rivers to be one of them by giving support to the people of the state.
Wike in his statement pledged to assist Obi with logistics for Rivers’ campaign.
He said, “Whenever you want to campaign in the state, let me know, we will give you all the logistical support.
“I know you as a person, you have all the criteria, you have all the qualities to lead this country, if you have them. No one can deny that.”
His running mate for the Obi inauguration was Datti Baba-Ahmed.
