The verdict All Progressive Congress (APC) is mired in a new crisis caused by alleged lack of transparency by the chairman of the party, Abdulahi Adamu, a letter obtained by PREMIUM TIMES has revealed.
Salihu Lukman, has national vice president(north west) of the party, in a letter dated April 27 and addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari, said it has filed a case against Mr. Adamu and its national secretary, Iyiola Omisore, at the Federal Court, Abuja.
The letter was copied to President-elect Bola Tinubu, members of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) and the National Working Committee (NWC).
In the letter, Mr. Lukman accused the duo of running the party with discretionary power without consulting NWC members. He stated that the actions of the two officials are against the constitution of the party.
“Your Excellency, as things are, in pain, I am left with no choice. It is quite disappointing that under the leadership of Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the provisions of our party constitution are not followed and the party is managed based on the discretionary decisions of Senator Adamu and Omisore.
“They are violating the basic conditions of responsibility contained in the party’s constitution,” he said.
Mr. Lukman also stated that the national president has betrayed the trust of Mr. Buhari, who appointed him to the position.
He said he had explored all available means to comply with the APC constitution on financial disclosure by Mr. Adamu and Mr. Omisore, but both refused to act.

“This is very unfortunate. This is certainly not the vision that created the APC. Well, the inability to fulfill the constitutional provisions of our party represents a betrayal of trust under the leadership of Senator Abdullahi Adamu and a betrayal of the trust reposed in us individually and collectively as members of the National Working Committee.
“Considering the great confidence you had in Senator Abdullahi Adamu SE, which prompted you to nominate him to be the national chairman of our party, the least one would expect is for you to strictly abide by the requirements laid down in the APC constitution,” he said.

He also called for the resignation of Mr. Omisore over the defeat of the APC in the 2022 governorship election in Osun State.

The then APC governor and candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, lost the election to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Ademola Adeleke. Mr. Adeleke has since been sworn in.
Mr Lukman said APC delivered the funds To judge Mr. Omisore’s election campaignformer deputy governor of the state, but that he mishandled it.
Mr. Omisore, however, denied the allegation and public apology and demanded payment of N500 million in damages.
