The draw for the tournament, which will be played between February 19 and March 11, 2023, will take place on Friday (today) in Cairo (Egypt).
The countries qualified for the tournament are Egypt, Tunisia, Nigeria, Benin, Senegal, Gambia, Uganda, South Sudan, Mozambique, Zambia, Central African Republic and Congo.
The Flying Eagles, currently on a two-week break, will resume camp in the first week of January for the final phase of preparation before the competition.
Before the break, the seven-time competition winners had eight wins and a draw in nine friendlies since the team opened camp on November 28.
Speaking about his Flying Eagles’ preparations for the tournament, Coach Ladan Bosso remains optimistic about his team’s qualification for the Under-20 World Cup billed to Indonesia.
“We already know that now it is very cold in Egypt and it is hot here in Nigeria, so we need to acclimatize as soon as possible,” he said.
“As soon as we meet the deadline to present our final team in January, we will be fine.
“First we have to reach the semi-finals, which will give us the ticket to the World Cup, and then we’ll see.”
