The African Action Congress presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has said that even if he does not win the 2023 election, he is happy that he has inspired the youth and the younger generation to believe that they deserve a better Nigeria.
Sowore said this in an interview at News Central’s Politics HQ, monitored by our correspondent on Thursday night.
Sowore, who described himself as a pessimist and an optimist, said he is hopeful for the future whether he holds office or not because the youths have woken up and will not settle for less than what they deserve from governance.
Sowore said: “The most important thing is my interest in making this country work. Politics should be a service. My kind of optimism is different. I hope for the worst and I hope for the best. I am optimistic for the future. Even if we don’t get to be in charge directly, generations new ones would arise, which would not accept such conditions of existence and which we would inspire.
“Any small contribution we can make or any sacrifice we can make now that will make even the people in power think twice sometimes when they make decisions or policies is not bad for me. The fact that we are also seeing generations of young people being radicalized and the promise that this system will one day go to hell if it continues like this is an optimistic commitment to me.
