Super Eagles defender and vice-captain, William Troost-Econbid farewell to his teammates after confirming his loan deal with Serie A side Salernitana from Watford.
The defender made the announcement via his Twitter handle on Monday.
It’s time for me to move on @WatfordFC after 3 special seasons shared with all involved. From everyone in the restaurant, the security staff, the stadium volunteers and the medical and office staff and everyone else, you made my time worth it. pic.twitter.com/hDuFquKrFO

The Nigerian’s sudden move may not have anything to do with getting playing time, as he has only played 15 games and 1094 minutes in the Championship this season.
The Hornets last game was a 2-0 win against Blackpool on Saturday 14th January.
Ekong, who traveled to Italy for medical treatment on Sunday, Sky Italia reported, will play in Serie A, three years after leaving Udinese to join Watford. He last played in Serie A for Udinese in 2018 after switching from Turkish outfit Bursaspor. He played 65 games for the Bianconeri in a two-year season.
The 29-year-old Ekong hopes to help 16th-placed Salernitana stop the drop. In his tweet, Ekong thanked the Watford board for his three-year stay at the English club.

“To all the fans, thank you for your support. It has been special to go from watching as a boy to stepping on the field as a player. Now that I’m a fan again, I wish you all as much as I do and I’ll be back watching from the stands in the future.
