International African drummer, Aralola Olamuyiwa, has conducted free medical examinations for shopkeepers and street boys in Ketu area of Lagos state.
Ara, as she was fondly called, said the medical outreach was a project of her initiative, “Eko Inspire Me” to help and support the less privileged medically as the year ends.
He stated that the beneficiaries are people who are in dire need of medical attention, and most of them have not been able to afford it financially.
Ara explained that the medical outreach includes free eye tests, diabetes, malaria and blood pressure.
He said, “today is a free medical outreach for the beneficiaries and their relatives. We realized that even for people who live in good conditions and environment, there are health challenges, not to mention those people who have terrible living conditions and are affected by many factors. Medical besides, and psychological.
“We have come to the end of the year and we think it is a good way to end the year by approaching those in need.
“We give them free eye tests, diabetes, malaria, blood pressure etc. and follow up with those who need glasses. You see how our elders are benefiting here. It is a way of giving back, one of my ways of thanking myself and God.
Ara, however, appealed to willing Nigerians to donate to help the needy.
He added: “Between the 19th of October and the 20th of December when we presented it, we have achieved a lot for the glory of God Almighty. The speed we have gained, the things we have been able to achieve can only be from God.”
