A two-time African Footballer of the YearDidier Drogba has confirmed that he will participate in the Creative Africa Nexus Weekend (CANEX WKND) 2022.
Drogba, who is seen as one of Africa’s greatest football stars, has had an enormous impact, using football as a tool for peace and empowerment in Côte d’Ivoire.
The former Chelsea star, who will appear as an African icon in one of the Fire Chat sessions, will share his remarkable story with the continent.
CANEX WKND 2022 is a three-day gathering of creators from across Africa and the diaspora, and the event will take place from November 25-27, 2022 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. This event will lead to the CANEX Summit at IATF2023.
Apart from Drogba, other important African creative experts and thought leaders are expected at CANEX WKND 2022.

Among others, Abdul-Karim Abdullah, founder and CEO of Culture Management Group (CMG) and Afrochella Festival (Ghana); Magali Ohouens, Modern Art specialist and exhibition coordinator at the Cécile Fakhoury gallery (Côte d’Ivoire); Armando Cabral, Founder and Creative Director, Armando Cabral (Portugal) and Elvis Adidiema, Director of Sony Music for Francophone Africa, among others.
CANEX WKND 2022, through panel discussions, fireside chats, masterclasses and talks, will allow industry experts to critically examine issues affecting the continent’s creative industries.
Discussions will focus on developing interventions that will provide the right environment for the Creative and Cultural Industries (CCI) to thrive.
