Fake marriages have become commonplace in the entertainment industry. While there are many celebrities who have been able to hold on to their homes, it seems that the number of divorces in the industry is on the rise. Basketmouth
Many were shocked when Bright Okpocha, a popular comedian and actor popularly known as Basketmouth, announced on Thursday, December 22, 2022 that he had completed 12 years of marriage with his wife.
He wrote: “As it hurts me to bring my personal life into the public space, the situation is unavoidable. After much consideration, my wife and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage.
“As we move forward individually, we will continue to work together to give our beautiful children the care, love, guidance and support they need. We humbly ask that you respect our privacy as we navigate through these times. Thank you.”
Oritsephemia
Nabila Fash, the wife of singer Oritsefemi Majemite, revealed the failure of their marriage in October 2022 with Ifedayo Olarinde, a media personality known as Daddy Freeze on Instagram Live.
He accused her of infidelity and physical abuse. She said: “There were times he got physical with me but the most I dealt with was verbal and emotional abuse. I also had to deal with constant cheating and at some point I was told I had to deal with it because of the industry I work in.
“However, at some point, I got attached to cheating and saw it as normal. But having a child without him telling me made me feel betrayed. I filed for divorce three months ago, but he doesn’t accept it. According to her, it’s one of those times when we’d sweep it under the rug and then take pictures of them making up “couple goals.” The fact that she was looking for a son was the excuse for cheating; and I’m glad he finally got one.”
The couple got married in 2017.

Kayode Oladotun aka Do2dtun and his estranged wife Omotayo have been involved in a messy divorce case.
Omotayo began divorce proceedings in November 2021, citing emotional abuse, domestic violence and forced abortion against her husband.
According to Omotayo’s lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, Do2dtun forced his way into Omotayo’s residence in Abuja (after he left his matrimonial home) on December 14, 2022, with some policemen and assaulted his doorman and staff. Later, Do2dtun filed a petition with the Inspector General of Police, Criminal Investigation Department of the Force, Abuja over illegal entry, malicious damage, crime fraud and illegal use of the police.
However, on 15 December 2022, the OAP took to Instagram to report that his wife’s family and lawyers were spreading lies against him.
Funke Akindele
Funke Akindele, a popular actress, filmmaker and Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State got married to singer and filmmaker Abdulrasheed Bello in May 2016. mainly because they managed to work well together.
However, in June 2022, Skillz announced their separation on Instagram. He wrote: “Dear friends and family, I have to let you know that Funke and I have separated. During it, we shared many things together and we have two beautiful children.
“The last two years have been very difficult for us. I know I’ve tried to fix things, but now I think it’s beyond repair. A month ago and at Funk’s request, I left home and aside from the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, I haven’t been able to sit down to discuss the future of our relationship in an amicable way.”
Yewande Adekoya
In April 2022, Yewande Adekoya, an actress and filmmaker, announced that she had left her marriage due to her husband Abiodun Thomas’ infidelity and financial irresponsibility.
During an Instagram Live session with popular blogger Gistlover, Adekoya said: “For 14 years, I have been emotionally abused by him (Thomas). He talks to me no matter what; I used to cry almost every day. I was our financial backbone all these years, but I never complained. . I wanted him to grow up, act responsibly and honor our marriage. (But), he wants to continue enjoying life and let me handle the serious part.
“He has different girls. At the beginning of our relationship, I was convinced that he was faithful; then imagine my surprise when I started seeing things that can drive an emotional woman crazy. I am grateful to God, therapy and my family. It broke me. It hurts me because I was 100 percent loyal.”
Korra Obidi
Singer and dancer Korra Obidi separated from American husband Justin Dean in March 2022, days after welcoming their second child.
At the time, Dean wrote on Instagram: “I’m tired of the narcissism, cheating and irresponsibility. I’ve been trying to save our marriage since 2018, and if I don’t do exactly what he says, he’s going to divorce me (he’s threatened).
“I have been a prisoner who uses his family against him if he doesn’t get what he wants. Korra Obidi and I are getting a divorce. It’s over; I would not (ever) be treated like that again. I did my best to make it work.’
